THE ASHDOWN FAMILY ANDREW ARTAN && ALEXANDER HOGAN
Andy Ashdown, 35. Left home at 16, leeching off rich friends to survive. Now has a respectable job selling cars; lives with his pregnant girlfriend. Hardly ever sees his family except for Christmas - feels guilty about leaving them, but resigned to the fact thathe'll never be forgiven.
Alex Ashdown, 33. The responsible one; helped raise the family as breadwinner when he was a young teen. Works as a mechanic in Cardiff and lives with his younger brother. Smarter than he looks, but content where he is - has a gambling problem that he fights to hide from his family.

Nathan Egress, deceased. Unknown to Holly and her family, Nathan was an ex-Time Agent who retired to modern Earth after being told that he was dying. There he met sixteen year old Holly and fell in love with her, but never told her the truth about his past. HOLLY'S ADOPTED KIDS MELINDA GRACE && JAMES EVAN
Mellie Mason, 19. Headstrong and opinionated. Mellie is the most confidant of the Ashdown children. She is alwas 'looking out' for her brother, though this usually means wanting to know every last detail of his personal life. She tends to prey on her mothers generous nature a little bit too much, but makes up for it by treating her whenever she is able. Works as a waitress to help pay rent, as well as putting hersef through college - she is studying literature and hopes to be a journalist.
James Mason, 19. Quiet and kind hearted, James takes after his adopted mother in all the best ways. He loves children and keeping house for his more ambitious twin sister, but is fiercly determined when it comes to his own vocation. He works shifts at the local special school, and is taking night classes on proper care and first aid - this extra effort is not pure ambition, but also an escape from his sisters attempt to set him up on dates [James is firmly in the closet]. He wants to become a teacher and, one day, a father.
[/blockquote] FRANKLIN ABEL && MARIA JOANNE
Frankie Dannyfer, 16. Coming from a broken home and a mother whose violence caused his deafness, Frankie was a difficult child who became a rebellious teenager. Though his school attendance has impored since being with Holly, he still cuts class and takes out his hearing aid to annoy his teachers. Devoted to his shy sister and protective of his family, he secretly looks for Holly's approval.
Maria Dannyfer, 15. Scared into silence by her abusive mother, Maria has only two reactions to any situation - hide and run away. She was moved around from foster to foster due to her refusal to speak and tendecy to truant almost every day - then Holly lobbyed for her custody. Reuniting Maria with her brother changed everything - while she still has days where she doesn't speak, they're now rare, and she happily attends school with Frankie in tow. Holly has lately begun teaching her to knit.
[/blockquote] WILLIAM DEAN && JANE VESTA
Billy Moore, 10. Quiet and jumpy, Billy is the bookish one amongst the group. He has quietly befriended the local librarians and, with Holly's blessing, spends his after-school time there. He is very phobic abour physical contact, much like Jane and Frankie, due to the extensive burn scars that cover his small body.
Jane Vesta, 9. A highly-functioning autistic, Jane was brought to Holly as a baby, having been abandoned in a valley library. She hates to be touched, is fascinated by light, absoltly loathes the colour purple, likes flowers, dislikes animals and is a natural at sleight of hand magic. Or anything involving her hands. When anxious, she tends to recite prime numbers or the Fibonacci sequence.
