WHAT ARE GRAPHICS?
WHAT ARE GRAPHICS SHOPS?
MY OWN SHOP?
there are many, many treads to go along with forum roleplaying. one of those wonderful things are graphics. graphics can be anything from forum skins (the layout on each page is considered a skin), icons (which can be used for posting your character on plot trees) or for your character account profile, signatures which can also be used on your character's account profile, post banners, or whatever really. don't know what those are? well we have separated each into a sub topic for you here and any further questions can be sent via a private message to the id: admin.[/blockquote]
WHAT ARE GRAPHICS SHOPS?
since not all people can make graphics and some people do really enjoy creating them, most boards have a thing called graphic shops. a 'shop' isn't really a shop at all; since most (like ours) is free and you don't have to pay anything. just be sure to credit the creator for the graphics they made you![/blockquote]
you can start your own if you want to, but understand that you have to keep it up. you cannot post your gallery and then not expect some people to request you make them something. when you make a shop you are saying that you want to create for others, not just show off what you can do.
MY OWN SHOP?
are you skilled with photoshop or another image editor? or are you good at making those nifty plot trees? maybe you are a coder? well then you can make a shop! you now only get to showcase the work you have made, get critiques from others if you wish, participate in contests but you also are helping out the site and your fellow members. who doesn't want to look pretty after all?[/blockquote]
its very simple to make your own shop. though every forum has their own rules to do so, the idea is pretty much the same. on our board your shop can look pretty much like however you want, but we do have some requirements:>> you must have a gallery
the reason we have this rule is that so people can see your style, level of skill and the sort of things you do. plus you can show off all your hard work! we recommend that you sort your shop gallery into sections. this is one way:that example was my gallery, which i put into two sections (two different threads); one for the plot trees i've made, and one for the icons. you can have one thread for signatures, codes you've done, icons, plot trees, banners... whatever really. this keeps your shop organized and neat looking. if your images will stretch the board, please link to them instead.
>> include your rules
your rules, (you can see mine sorted into its own thread so they are easier to find), will explain to those who visit your shop how you wish things to be run. when you make them a graphics, do you require them to link to your shop? or just credit you withy text? or maybe you want to image to be a link to your shop? do you watermark your graphics? or do you just expect them not to claim them as their own? do you require a special form for people to use in order to request graphics? will you allow them to use your graphics on other sites? be sure to be specific.
>> explain what you make
what sort of creations do you do? do you only know how to code? do you make backgrounds or maybe only icons? you can explain this in your rules or in the shop's description.
what are the exact steps to making a board on TTR? well first you have to send a private message to the admin. include what you want on your shop, which will be a subboard in the graphics section of the site. here is my example:
you will say in the private message what want that subboard to say exactly. like if i was to send in my shop to the admin account, i would write 'To have a banner, signature, icon set, mood set, plot tree or almost anything made by Scarlett; read the rules pined at the top which also has the codes.' and then the gallery name. your gallery can be called anything. i called mine 'scarlett and her panda madness'; which is further proof you can call it pretty much anything.
